This project started during the COVID lockdown. We were all missing concerts and wanted to recreate the feeling of a crowd. Our goal to design a digital experience led to Lure Of The Underground —a a concert for the lonely.
We had planned on creating original music but later shifted towards Sigur Rós' Ég anda.
To create the dancing avatars, we recorded snippets of ourselves dancing to music. An open source A.I. transfered our motion onto full body portraits we collected. Puppeteering this way allowed us to sync or syncopate the crowd's movement. Video synthesis turned our filmed footage into a moving painted backdrop.
